  • Topic: Grid Benchmarking: Related Work and Progress Report (ppt) -- George Tsouloupas
  • Abstract:The focus of the talk will be the recent introduction of the NAS Grid Benchmarks specification. Building upon the specification for the NAS Parallel benchmarks, NGB utilizes the NPB kernels as building blocks. This is done in an attempt to "provide a pencil-and-paper specification of a benchmark suite for computational Grids". The central idea of the specification is the introduction of Data Flows between instances of the NPB kernels (i.e. the output of one kernel is the input of another). The selected Data Flow Graphs correspond to 'typical' Grid applications, and much like NPB, NGB suggests several standard problem sizes. As with NPB1, implementation is left to the implementor who choose what language and Grid infrastructure to use.
